Being led by the Holy Spirit, Edward Alexander Jr., became Pastor of Christian Baptist Church in Lake Charles, Louisiana on December 29, 1994 with a vision to "Meet the Needs of the Total Person - Spirit, Soul, and Body". Since then, the membership has doubled and continues to grow; new Ministries have been created, such as, Children's Church, New Member Orientation Classes, Singles' Ministry, Marriage Ministry, S.P.A.R.K and B.L.A.Z.E Youth Ministry, and Hour of Power (A Wednesday night Bible Study). In respect to the vision, Pastor Alexander has led the CBC family in meeting the needs of the local community through many free outreach programs. Pastor Alexander praises God for the numerous persons who have come to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.

Along with the new Ministries that were formed, Rev. Alexander was given a new vision for the church, "One Church, Two Locations". Christian Baptist Church now has a Family Life Center, located in south Lake Charles. The Family Life Center is a multipurpose facility that includes a gym, game room, and exercise room. During the pandemic Rev. Alexander shifted quickly to allow his members to continue to receive the Word through his teachings, by live streaming Wednesday and Sunday services.

In July of 2018, Rev. Alexander was elected the president of LA Missionary Baptist State Convention with the vision of “Maintain, Reclaim and Retain”. During his term as president Rev. Alexander has worked tirelessly to keep the Convention moving by reclaiming inactive churches and associations. He along with his cabinet are credited with hosting Quarterly Conferences, Annual Sessions and Congress of Christian Education classes virtually in an effort to keep our Convention safe while maintain a regular meeting schedule. Rev. Alexander is humbly looking forward to seeking a second term as president.
